Maria del Carmen Urquizar Contreras, R.Ac
Carmen is a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CTCMPAO). She is also licensed as a Registered Nurse in Spain, where she practiced for over 10 years in Oncology, Intensive Care, Cardiology, Internal medicine, and Community Health among other specializations. This extensive professional experience, as well as volunteering as a nurse in Africa (Guinea Bissau), gives Carmen a great deal of knowledge and insight into health and disease, from both a Western medicine and traditional Eastern medicine viewpoint.
Much loved by all her patients and clinical colleagues, Carmen works with her patients to develop comprehensive and personalized treatment plans that holistically restore their physical, emotional and mental well-being.
Carmen’s treatments are designed to not only relieve her patient’s symptoms, but treat the underlying root cause of the disease as well; thus she focuses her practice on Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Cupping, Guasha, Tuina and Dietary Chinese Nutrition to bring your health into an overall state of balance and harmony.
Carmen walks the talk in terms of healing both body and mind. As of 2012, she has also been practicing Tai Ji and Qi Gong as a part of self-healing, which has been a valuable tool in her practice when treating clients.
Carmen embodies empathy, compassion and acceptance. She works effortlessly to address her patients concerns and is dedicated in her treatment. She believes that you never truly stop learning and is consistently looking to sharpen her skills and enhance her knowledge of healing. She has recently completed the entire course of Eastern Medicinal herbology to further expand her practice.
